Many residents miss the tree on the Burton Triangle.

Wiltshire Council’s tree contractor is Upton Specialist Tree Service. They advise that no consents are needed to replace the tree, and that they have funds in place to grind out and dispose of the old stump and plant and stake a new semi-mature tree, perhaps 3 to 4 metres tall. They have provided a list of suitable species, and suggest the work is best done in the winter or early spring.

It is proposed that the replacement tree is designated the Burton Tree for the Century and dedicated to residents who die or have already died during the 21st century. Relatives will be invited to have a brass memorial plate on a community commemoration board.  This board would be funded by a public appeal to the residents and the Parish Council and Community Association would be invited to make a contribution.

In order to make this happen it is proposed that we form a Triangle Tree group who would sort out the practical and administrative details and make it happen.  If you would like to be part of this group, or to express your support for the project, please contact me (acaie@burtonwilts.org.uk) or Howard Greenman (vhgreenman@hotmail.co.uk).
