We’re having a party!

We are seeking volunteers to contribute food for the Coronation Party on Sunday 7 May. This party is for residents of Burton only.

To ensure we have enough buffet-style food catering for all tastes, we’ve created a simple poll for pledges of culinary delights. The poll includes a list of suggested foods. The list is not exclusive, but it should give you a good idea of the types of food required.

For further inspiration, why not try out one of the recipes from chefs such as Heston Blumenthal and Raymond Blanc.

Please remember, the party will be in a field. As such, there will be no facilities to heat up food on site, nor a mains water supply.

To make your pledge read the step-by-step guide below then click here to join the poll. If you have any queries, please add a comment at the foot of this post.

Thank you for your support.

Step-by-step guide to filling in the poll

Figure 1: What you will see when you enter the poll.
  1. Click on the link to take you to the poll. Add your name (first name plus initial of surname). Be assured, by clicking ‘Proceed as Guest’ you do not need to give your email address to access this poll.
  2. Scroll down through the suggested foods list (see screenshot of list in Figure 1 above). The foods on this list are an indication of suitable finger foods. However, you will have the opportunity to pledge any other buffet-style food you choose to contribute. Below the list is a separate table. If you added your name in stage 1 (above), you’ll see a row with your name in this table (see Figure 2 below).
  3. Click on any cell in your named row to add your contribution(s). To pledge food from the suggested foods list, add the item and amount (number of items/portions – whatever seems most appropriate) under the column Foods from Selection Above. Check previous entries to avoid duplication, bearing in mind that a number of pledges may be needed to cater for quantities required. For instance, if Magda has pledged 12 x blueberry muffins, you could pledge muffins/fairy cakes of a different variety. To pledge food (suitable for a finger buffet) not on the list of suggested foods, add to Other Food Contribution 1, and Other Food Contribution 2

Don’t forget, for any queries, please add a comment below and we’ll get right back to you.

Hi Caron, the aim of holding the Coronation Party is to bring together the people of Burton as a community. As such, it is for Burton residents only. I hope you understand. We will be holding further social events during the year, such as the village fête in June and a barbecue in September, to which all are welcome .
